F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2025 Race Results: Norris Triumphs in Thrilling McLaren 1-2

F1 Austrian Grand Prix 2025: Lando Norris Secures Victory in McLaren 1-2 Masterclass

The 2025 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring delivered a spectacular race, with McLaren’s Lando Norris clinching a hard-fought victory from pole position, fending off teammate and championship leader Oscar Piastri for a dominant McLaren 1-2 finish. The thrilling battle between the McLaren duo captivated fans, narrowing Piastri’s championship lead to just 15 points.

The race began with drama as Max Verstappen, starting seventh, was eliminated on the opening lap after a collision with Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli at Turn 3. Antonelli, who received a three-place grid penalty for the next race at Silverstone, apologized for the incident, which also ended his day early. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz’s Williams caught fire before the start, preventing him from competing.
Norris maintained his lead despite intense pressure from Piastri, who briefly overtook him but couldn’t sustain the challenge. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured a solid third place, while Lewis Hamilton finished fourth, marking Ferrari’s strongest showing in recent races. George Russell rounded out the top five for Mercedes, followed by Liam Lawson’s impressive sixth for Racing Bulls.

A standout performance came from Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto, who scored his first F1 points in eighth, just behind Fernando Alonso, his manager, in seventh. Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon completed the top ten, with Sauber celebrating a rare double-points finish.

The race showcased McLaren’s dominance and set the stage for an exciting British Grand Prix at Silverstone. With Norris closing the gap in the championship, the 2025 season is heating up.
