Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Game 4 Recap: Western Conference Finals 2025

Timberwolves Fall Short in Thrilling Game 4 Against Thunder in 2025 Western Conference Finals

In a heart-pounding Game 4 of the 2025 Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves battled valiantly but fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder with a final score of 128-126 on May 26, 2025, at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Thunder now hold a commanding 3-1 series lead, putting the Timberwolves on the brink of elimination as the series shifts back to Oklahoma City for Game 5.

The game was a high-octane offensive showcase, with both teams shooting over 50% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a playoff career-high 40 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, proving why he’s the 2024-25 NBA MVP. Jalen Williams added 34 points, including six three-pointers, while Chet Holmgren contributed 21 points and three blocks. For the Timberwolves, the bench stepped up significantly, with Nickeil Alexander-Walker scoring 23 points and Donte DiVincenzo adding 21. Jaden McDaniels chipped in 22 points, but Minnesota’s stars, Anthony Edwards (16 points) and Julius Randle (5 points), struggled, combining for just 21 points on 6-for-20 shooting.

Despite the loss, the Timberwolves showed resilience. They outscored OKC’s bench 64-27 and capitalized on 25 points off 14 Thunder turnovers, compared to OKC’s 22 points off Minnesota’s 21 turnovers. The Wolves’ aggressive defense led to eight steals, but their own turnovers in critical moments proved costly in the two-point defeat. The game remained close, with Minnesota pulling within two points late, but clutch plays by Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams sealed the victory for OKC.

As seen in the sports card above, the Timberwolves shot 51.2% from the field and 43.9% from three, showcasing their offensive firepower. However, their 21 turnovers and inability to contain OKC’s star trio were the difference-makers. With Game 5 looming on May 28, 2025, Minnesota must regroup, relying on Edwards and Randle to bounce back and their home crowd’s energy to avoid elimination.

Can the Timberwolves turn the series around, or will the Thunder advance to the NBA Finals? Stay tuned for Game 5 coverage!
